How it works

How to use

Pick a quick preset or type the appliance's watts, then enter how many hours per day, your price per kWh, and how many days per month it runs. Add a fixed monthly fee if your contract has one.

Formula

kWh per day = watts ÷ 1,000 × hours per day. Monthly cost = kWh per day × days × price per kWh + fixed fee. Yearly = monthly × 12.

Example

A 2,000 W heater run 4 h/day for 30 days at 1.50 kr/kWh → 240 kWh/month → 360 kr/month, about 4,320 kr/year.

When it helps

Deciding whether to replace an old appliance, weighing up a heater versus a heat pump, or checking what a single appliance contributes to your bill.

FAQ

Where do I find the appliance's wattage?+

Check the label on the back or bottom of the appliance, or the manual. Typical values: TV ~100 W, washing machine ~500 W, oven ~2,400 W.

What if my appliance only runs part of the time it's on?+

Many appliances cycle on and off (fridges, heaters, dryers). Use the average effective hours of full power usage per day for a realistic estimate.

Why is there a fixed monthly fee field?+

Most electricity contracts add a fixed monthly charge on top of usage. Including it shows the true monthly and yearly total.

Why does the cost per use look small?+

A single use is often cheap, but multiplied across days and months it adds up. The monthly and yearly totals show the real impact.

Can I compare two appliances?+

Yes. Run the calculator once for each appliance with its own watts, hours and days, and compare the monthly totals.
